Coastal Data Stewardship Exchange (CDSE)

Vision

CDSE aligns universities, agencies, and fishers to coordinate marine sensors and local observations for coastal resilience. The vision is a shared evidence base—currents, temperature, salinity, species events—collected ethically and discoverable for planning, research, and community alerts. Sponsors strengthen climate adaptation and blue economy collaboration.

Problem

Coastal data is siloed across research labs and agencies; community observations lack standard formats; and permits and data sharing rules are hard to navigate. As a result, decisions about harbors, fisheries, and storm response lack fine grained, trusted evidence, and local knowledge remains underused.

Solution

Cosolvent standardizes project briefs and contributor roles. LLM+RAG enables upload and querying of permits, SOPs, sensor manuals, CSV logs, and photos—“which buoys meet dataIquality thresholds for public dashboards?”—with cited passages. ClientSynth simulates sensor network coverage and participant retention, helping sponsors design incentives that yield reliable data season after season.

Business Model

Funding combines institutional subscriptions, sponsorIbacked microIgrants, and dataIlicensing for validated use cases. Over time, governed aggregates support planning tools and media storytelling, strengthening sponsor ROI while advancing public resilience goals.
