Circular Electronics Refurbish Exchange (CERE)

Vision

CERE accelerates circularity in consumer and industrial electronics by matching repair shops, refurbishers, recyclers, and makers with verified components, boards, and devices. The vision is a transparent, partsIfirst ecosystem where quality signals, provenance, and fitment data make reuse the default. Sponsors back measurable eIwaste reduction, local jobs, and affordable access to devices for schools and small businesses.

Problem

Refurbishers spend too much time hunting for the right part, firmware, or donor device; documentation is scattered across PDFs, forums, and photos; and quality is inconsistent. Retail donation flows are lumpy, while small repair shops lack the scale to clear or source inventory predictably. Without trusted matching, many devices are prematurely scrapped, missing both environmental and economic value.

Solution

Cosolvent standardizes listing metadata (model/board IDs, condition, test results) and reservation windows. With LLM+RAG, users upload teardown guides, schematics, firmware notes, or bench photos and ask practical questions—“is this Rev B board compatible with the 2019 chassis?”—receiving cited excerpts. ClientSynth simulates seasonal demand (e.g., school laptop refreshes) and synthetic repair pipelines to show sponsors where targeted support unlocks liquidity and the highest diversion from landfill.

Business Model

Revenue includes transaction fees, quality verification tiers, and white label portals for school districts and retailers. Over time, governed analytics on failure modes and reuse rates can be licensed to ESG platforms and extended warranty providers, giving sponsors durable, data-backed impact metrics.
